Figurine

front figurine

side figurine

Last night I quickly made this figure while watching the news. Part of my, “Oh my gosh I quit my job. I need to make money somehow,” movement. The color is off. It isn’t beige and black (I lost Adobe Photoshop LE so now I’m using GIMP) it’s just unpainted polymer clay beige. It isn’t as finished as I’d like. I need to sand it and probably re-sculpt it before I cast it. I hope to make some tiny 3″ figures to sell for a small amount of money. It probably will fail but it’s better to keep busy.

Global Giving – Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund

When I turned the television on this morning I was horrified to see the footage of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Since I’m rarely in a position to blog about anything going on in the world I set to work making today’s capstone. It is quick and rushed but I implore you to consider donating to the Red Cross in your area if you are able to do so.

Windy

Dreary might have been a better capstone for today but it was a bit windy too. Even though I felt like returning to hibernation mode I decided to post another capstone. I feel like I’ve been neglecting moon-gem.

Good Mourning!

Good Mourning!

I’ve survived another winter! Well, this is a bit premature, spring starting the 21st and all. Of course, around here it isn’t unheard of for it to snow in May. I imagine in a few days it will snow 12 inches and I’ll return to my den to hibernate.

At the moment I’m feeling energetic and capable. I want to paint again. I have some acrylics as always but oil paint is what I desire. Painting is expensive in any media, brushes, paint thinner, canvas, paints it all adds up. So, I’ll have to wait until I’ve found my new job to indulge myself.

Commissions aren’t going so well (with the exception of Perixel). I had hoped to do a large oil painting (36″x24″), but as I don’t have supplies, and I know the payment I would get wouldn’t cover the purchase of materials. It doesn’t look like it will happen. I would lose money and a lot of time.

For now I’m off to hunt for jobs, dig up commissions, and volunteer to be rejected  .
